The Doikayt Ensemble is a diasporist recording collective creating Jewish music rooted in presence, memory, and refusal.

We write in the space between grief and groundedness. Chamber textures shaped by Yiddish political tradition, acoustic restraint, and the belief that Jewish life in diaspora is not exile.

Doikayt - hereness - is both our name and our foundation.

We’re Looking for Musicians

The Doikayt Ensemble is seeking remote collaborators for upcoming recordings.

We’re building a diasporist Jewish sound that honors silence as much as song, drawing from Yiddish political tradition, Middle Eastern modes, and minimalist restraint. Our music sits between grief and resolve, diaspora and rootedness. Most pieces are instrumental, sparse, and slow to burn.

We are currently looking for:

  • Violin or viola
  • Upright bass (need both arco and pizz)
  • Clarinet
  • Accordion
  • Frame drum / riq / minimal percussion
  • Harmonium, piano, or other drone capable instruments

We record remotely. Timelines are gentle. You don’t need to be Jewish, but you should be aligned with diasporist, anti-Zionist values and open to collaborative, politically grounded art.

If that resonates with you, use the form here to tell us more about yourself.

Doikayt means hereness. That’s what we’re building, together.
